THE IMPORTANCE OF AED TRAININGMost deaths from heart disease occur due to a syndrome called "sudden cardiac arrest." The most common cause of sudden cardiac arrest is a disturbance in the electrical rhythm of the heartbeat called ventricular fibrillation. Unless a normal rhythm is restored, death will follow An AED is a device about the size of a laptop computer that analyzes the heart's rhythm for any abnormalities and, if necessary, directs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the victim. The shock, called defibrillation, may help the heart to establish an effective rhythm of its own. AEDs are becoming more available in public and private places where large numbers of people gather. The number of devices will continue to grow as more people begin to understand the importance of AEDs and AED training. Contact Cindy@thefitstop.com to schedule your group or private CPR/AED class. |
